Oscars

Oscars is a big event at our house.  It comes from my mom's love of movies and love of this show and now it is our love of movies and love of this show.  I love to see the beautiful gowns, hair, jewelry.  It's fun to fill out ballots and make predictions to see who will win.  We watch all 2 hours or more of the red carpet before the show begins.  This year it was just us and I didn't do as much as I hoped for due to illness but next year, watch out!  Usually we have a red carpet and get dressed up and have a microphone and do the interviews.  So fun!  You should try it!

Love the Oscar paper statue as a centerpiece.  Nicole did all my cutting for me.  She did a great job on the statue and the popcorn boxes.

Fried chicken, potatoes, deviled eggs, chicken salad with croissants.  Yummy!

Cut out stars to liven up our napkins

Handmade popcorn boxes, banana bread, cupcakes and donuts

Homemade Blackberry Limeade, delicious! On my pinterest boards

Fashion Etiquette from a 12 Yr Old Boy

This is the way I wore my bracelets the other day            This is the way Joseph said I should be wearing
them.  He said I looked "uneducated" by not
having them in size order.  Silly boy!

Kevin's Valentine's Gift

I didn't take pictures, but I will tell you about the gift I gave Kevin.  Again, thanks to pinterest, I gave him a gift every hour of the day.  I sent him to work with a bag of little gifts.  Each of them was labeled what time to open which one.

The first was to open at 7:14 - It was a CD of songs that I love and remind me of him.  He could listen to it on his way to work.

The second was to open at 8:14 - I gave him some gum and wrote "I chews you" on the package

The third was to open at 9:14 - Post-It notes with "I am stuck on you" written on the package

The fourth was to open at 10:14 - Bag of Twizzlers, his favorite

The fifth was to open at 11:14 - Card

The sixth was to to open at 12:14 - Brain teaser puzzle (he loves these)

The seventh was to open at 1:14 - Bar of Godiva milk chocolate carmel (a favorite)

The eighth was to open at 2:14 - Card

The ninth was to open at 3:14 -  Glow Sticks  "You light up my Life" (super cheesy I know)

The tenth was to open at 4:14 - Pop Rocks "You Rock"

The eleventh was to open at 5:14 - Chapstick (to get his lips nice and soft for when he gets home)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Minute To Win It

We finished our evening by playing this Minute To Win It game (found on my Valentine's Board on pinterest) and giving the kids our valentine's gifts to them.

Thinking hard! Doing the M&M's Math

Have to bite (or tear) off both ends of the Red Vines, open the Pixie Stix (I used Fun Dip because I couldn't find the pixie stix), dump it into the circle and use your Red Vines straw to blow it out of the circle.  A bit of a mess but lots of fun!

Opening the Hershey's Kiss with one hand and eating it in 1 minute

He worked so hard on this!

Joseph's 6th grade class from Arizona

Our last day of school in Arizona was the last day before Christmas break.  Joseph's class planned a surprise going away party for him.  They had this sign hanging up above his desk when he came in the classroom that morning.

What a send-off!

Joseph's teacher, Mrs. Hall (on the left) was such an inspiration!  Joseph has such great time in that classroom and truly enjoyed school.  They discussed current events happening daily in the news and Joseph participated in several debates.  Mrs. Hall is also an avid sports fan and would discuss football with him, which he loved!  He said he hoped he would have a teacher in CA that would realize that learning can be fun the way Mrs. Hall does.
